What Is QRL?
The Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL) is one of the earliest quantum-resistant blockchain projects. QRL launched its mainnet in 2018 and uses XMSS (eXtended Merkle Signature Scheme) for quantum-safe transaction signing. It is one of the few existing blockchains that takes post-quantum security seriously.
QRL vs BMIC on NIST Standards
QRL uses XMSS, which is not one of the NIST FIPS 203/204/205 standards published in 2024. NIST evaluated various post-quantum algorithms including hash-based signatures and selected SLH-DSA (FIPS 205) as the stateless hash-based standard — distinct from XMSS. BMIC implements the government-certified NIST standards. QRL uses an earlier, non-NIST-certified approach.
Presale vs Listed Asset
QRL is a fully listed token trading on exchanges. BMIC is in presale at $0.049 — earlier stage, higher risk, potentially higher reward. QRL's market cap provides a useful benchmark for what a quantum-safe crypto can achieve. BMIC's NIST certification and 85% APY staking represent additional differentiators. ⚠️ DYOR. Not financial advice. Crypto investments carry significant risk.
